Morgins Pool is an absolute favourite with our family. Just a 10 minute drive from Chatel the open air pool has a really fresh and revitalising feeling- perfection on a hot afternoon.

The pool is overlooked by a huge grassy bank with parasols provided (you can also bring your own.) There is also a play park with swings, slide, roundabout and a trampoline. The café within the centre sells drinks, cold and warm food and (most importantly) a selection of ice lollies.
The pool itself is basic but a good size. You are allowed to bring reasonably sized floats which can mean a relaxing afternoon in the pool if you are supervising older children. There is also a small splash pool for toddlers.
The boys and men in your family will be pleased to know that swimming trunks are allowed here so no budgie smugglers necessary!

The Morgins pool is included on the summer Multipass and even if you don’t have the pass, entry is only 5CHF per adult and 3CHF per child.
For me, these days, living out here is all about the summer. I love love love the fresh mountain air, the hot summer days and the huge selection of spaces to take a dip to cool down.
I’m going to do a few posts about our favourite spots for a swim including the swimming pools in the area and the best spots for a lake swim.

Starting locally here is a bit about Forme d’O. The swimming pool in Chatel.
The swimming complex here has a large indoor pool which is open year round. The floor is graduated which is great because all children can find a point to play where they are comfortably in their depth. There are fountains and often foam slides and platforms to provide a bit of fun.

Outside (and also open year round) you’ll find another good sized pool with water jets and bubbles. Big hits with the children are the giant inflatable shark slip and slide (they will do laps!) and a splash pad with water shooters and jets from the ground which are a bit with children of all ages. There’s also a large grassy area with sun loungersmro and parasols.
The complex also has a separate pool and spa area for adults with saunas and steam rooms.
Overall, there is something for everyone at Forme d’O but the big downside is the pricing at up to €14 per adult and €10 per child. On the plus side, during the mmer months, entrance is free with a multipass 😃
It’s also worth noting that (as with most French pools) board shorts are NOT allowed. If you don’t have shorty shorts with with you then buy them at one of the sports shops in town at half the price you will pay at the pool.
Next year marks the 50th Anniversary of Lac de Vonnes which was created to be a focal poi

For her big birthday the lake is having a huge make over with a more natural aesthetic planned. The stream which effectively runs through the lake will be re-exposed above ground at the far side of the lake and will run through a new leisure area with open space and new children’s play equipment.
Lake-side, new pontoons and walkways across the water will bring you even closer to nature

Unfortunately this does mean saying goodbye to some of the play equipment we have come to love over the years including the much loved pirate ship 😔☠️⛵. It also means a bit of disruption as the work progresses over the summer (although in peak season the path around the lake will remain open.)

I’m really looking forward to seeing what new activities we will discover together at the refurbished Lac de Vonnes next winter season.
Daytime or evening childcare in June will be offered with a 20% discount.

As more and more things begin to reopen for the summer season, why not give yourself some child-free time to relax in the mountains. Your children will enjoy a day of discovering new play areas and activities whilst you finally climb that mountain or spend a chilled out afternoon at one of the many spas available in the valley.
This offer also includes the famous PassPort du Soleil mountain biking weekend. So if it’s something you’ve always thought you might give a go… Make it your year this year.

Hello.
Welcome to the new site for the new season 🙂
Since I was last working I’ve been pretty busy with lovely baby George. Some of you met him when he joined me for work over the summer.

Now he is all geared up to start with his little friends at the local nursery so I will be fully back in action over the coming winter.
School holiday daytime availability is already running low but get in touch to book an evening out.
Daytimes throughout the rest of the season have a healthy amount of availability for now 😊
I’m hoping to keep this blog better updated with the goings on here in Chatel so keep checking back in ⛷🏂
