When leaving your children in the care of someone else, especially when away from home, it is so important that you feel able to trust and understand that person. So here is a little summary about me and my childcare story to date to help you get a sense of who I am.
I grew up in a small village in Gloucestershire and started babysitting at the age of 13. When I was 16 my mum surprised us all by announcing she was pregnant with my little brother! This sparked my love for babies and childcare which has continued to this day (little brother now fully grown and at Uni.)
Aged 18 I went to Bristol University to study science but found no inspiration as to what to do with my life so when I finished I applied to do a ski season working as a nanny. That job took me to the Abondance Valley and I have never looked back!
For almost 10 years I worked within a team of nannies for a company specialising in family ski holidays here in Chatel, before making the decision to offer my nannying services on an independent basis for families visiting this beautiful ski resort.
Between seasons I continued building my childcare experience, working for multiple families in the UK. 2011-2012 I took a year away from skiing and completed my teaching qualification (Primary PGCE) a really informative and fulfilling course which confirmed for me that working with children was the way forward, but that I wanted it to be here with the stunning mountain playground as my classroom!
So, if you have made it this far, that brings us to now. I have been working as an independent nanny and babysitter in the area surrounding Chatel for almost 5 years! Trustworthiness and transparency is essential in a childcare role so I work as a fully registered and insured French business. I hope that knowing you are booking professional childcare helps you feel a sense of security when trusting me with your most precious family members. I keep my First Aid qualifications up to date, alternating between paediatric and outdoor courses which best suits the possible situations here in the mountains. I also have an up to date French ‘Casier Judiciaire” check (equivalent of a DBS for French residents.) Many of my previous clients/ families are happy to provide references if you request them.
In March 2022 my husband Andy and I welcomed our own little baby (George) to our family and we are so excited to share our passion for the great outdoors with him.
